Preserving the ancient Tibetan Buddhist Texts

DEWA CHE foundation also engages in helping to preserve the ancient Tibetan Buddhist Texts in Switzerland. We have been supporting the Tibetan monastery in Rikon in Switzerland a few times over the last 12 years. So as to build a big cupboard to store the precious ancient Tibetan Buddhist Texts of the monastery, or to renew the big curtains in the altar room.  Here I am with ChΓΆnzela who is the most senior ven. monk of the monastery. I know him since I am a young girl and it is always very touching to meet him.

So proud of Gonpo and Danba from Chokri

On the last day of my trip to Lhasa and Chengdu in August 2023, I met two young Tibetans that make us very proud.
Gongbo Tsering on my left and Danba Dhargey on my right. Our β€šDewa Cheβ€˜ association supported Gongbo and Danba in 2006 to help them with their travel expenses to reach Manila, in the Philippines to pursue their studies in environmental science and teacherβ€˜s training.
How wonderful to see both of them after 17 years and see how they have both excelled in what they are doing.
Gongbo Tsering has become an Associate Professor in Environmental Economics at Chengdu University and explores the values of rural culture in environmental conservations.
Danba Dhargey has become an award winning screen writer for Tibetan movies that are beeing featured at various international Film Festivals.
My heartfelt congratulations to both of them. We are very very proud of youπŸ™πŸ»πŸ§šπŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ§šπŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ‘

Concluding of our social projects in Tibet

Before traveling up to Lhasa in summer 2023 I had the chance to meet some of the students of the tailoring scholl and automobile repair station in Eastern Tibet.
Seven representatives of the Tailoring School and Automobile repair Station came all the way down from Chokri (Luho) to see me and to express their deepest thanks for changing their lives substantially. They as well as more than 300 young people, all have over the last 12 years received a six-Months intensive training from the Tailoring master Lobsang Dawa to become skillful in producing traditional Tibetan clothes, monastery decoration, Thankas etc.

With 300 young people trained over the last 21 years we have concluded this wonderful project led by the monk Lobsang Dawa. We are thankful to everyone that helped sustain this great project for so long. Almost half of them own their own shops now in the bigger Cities like Drango, Gartze, Seta. Tawu and Lithang.

Also Lobsang Jampa who still manages the Automobile repair Station in Chokri came down to update me.
We trained 40 young men during three years to repair cars and 15 of them have succeded in running their own little car repair station. I am simply so proud of them all!

With a good feeling we conclude these two projects as China has managed very well to lift the Tibetan people out of Poverty.

It was very nice to hear all the stories of the students as they represent the stories of the other 293 students in Tibet.

I thank all my fans of my music for letting me be in your lives for so long. It is thanks to you I was able to do such important social work for my people in Tibet.

Sending you much love from Chengdu,

DECHEN πŸ™πŸ»πŸ§‘πŸ™πŸ»πŸ§‘πŸ™πŸ»πŸ§‘

Preserving the ancient Art of THANKA Painting

While in Chengdu in summer 2023 I took the chance to visit the young Tibetan Thanka art master Sonam Wangchuk
In the middle of Chengdu in China, who together with his friend founded this authentic Thanka painting school in the middle of Chengdu in China with 20 young Tibetan students. I am totally impressed with his work and dedication to pass on his skills and knowledge to the young boys to give them a solid education that lasts at least 4-6 years.
I watched the boys while they were painting in the atelier. They were working beautifully in a total calm atmosphere and highly concentrated at their thanka canvasboard.
A few years ago β€šDewa Cheβ€˜ foundation supported the school with a donation to help the school support the lodging of the boys.
I am truly impressed!
If you ever wanted to find out more about the art of Tibetan Thanka painting..
Just leave a noteπŸ™πŸ»πŸ€—πŸ™πŸ»
Sincerely yours,
DECHENπŸ§šπŸ»πŸ™πŸ»

Educational Support

Dechen's music reached a very large audience in Germany, Switzerland and Austria due the 60 minutes film documentary produced by the Swiss National Television that featured Dechen, her music and her family history including a trip to Tibet with the Swiss camera team. This popularity helped her to get the attention of GOFUS Suisse Cup Davos, a big charity organisation that chooses interesting social projects every year. In that particular year she was invited along with Mr. RΓΆbi Federer, father of the Swiss Tennis Icon Roger Federer. The organization had decided that their donation should support Roger Federer's Foundation to help Children in need, but also to Dechen's social project in Tibet for Educational Support for young students.

In addition to the generous donation by GOFUS Suisse Cup Davos, Dechen was very grateful and happy when one of the main sponsors, McDonald increased the donation to CHF 20'000. The check given to Dechen on that same evening came into effective use to sponsor 10 young Tibetan students from very poor families to go to college.
